DAY 01: COCHIN / ERNAKULAM - MUNNAR (125 KMS/ APPROX 4 HOURS)

On arrival at Ernakulam/Cochin, pick up & drive to Munnar. Check into the hotel. Depending on the time availability, cover the following places: Visiting Tea Museum & later visit Blossom Park, Pothenmedu view point.

Blossom Park: It’s a park set in one of the beautiful locales in the country. A lot of activities are offered here including boating, roller skating, cycling etc. And if you wish a calm visit, admire the trees and a wide variety of beautiful flowers in the park.

Pothanmedu: (6 km from Munnar) the rolling hills and the lush mountains here are ideal for trekking & long mountain walks

Munnar is set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district. Unending expanse of lush green tea plantations - immaculate valleys and mountains- colourful species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests - fragrance of spice scented cool air - Munnar has all these and more. The beautiful landscapes, cozy weather, and the smell of tealeaves make Munnar one of the most sought-after destinations in India.

DAY 02: MUNNAR

Spend day at leisure in Munnar. As per the availability of the time, you can cover the below places of sightseeing.

Morning proceed for the sightseeing towards Mattupetty Side – covering, Photo point, Mattupetty Dam (one can go for boat ride there), Kundale Lake & Eravikulam National Park. Stay overnight in Munnar

Mattupetty: (13 km Munnar) Situated at a height of 1700 m, Mattupetty is known for its highly specialized dairy farm – the Indo Swiss Livestock project. The Mattupetty Dam just a short distance from the farm is a very beautiful picnic spot.

Eravikulam National Park: (Visiting time: - 0800 – 1700 hrs) (15 km from Munnar) the main attractions of this park situated in the Devikulam Taluk are the Nilagiri Tahr and the Neelakurinji flowers that bloom just once in 12 years. The Highest peak in South India, Anamudi (2695 m), is located in the southern region of the park.

DAY 03: MUNNAR – THEKKADY (90 KM / APPROX. 3 HOURS)

After early breakfast drive to Thekkady (about 3 hr drive) and check in to resort evening at leisure. Tea Plantation tour/Optional -Overnight stay in Thekkady.

In the Periyar forests of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India, and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill town that hold great opportunities for treks and mountains walks. The Periyar Lake lies at the heart of the sanctuary, which is a veritable paradise for all wildlife lovers. Situated within the boundaries of the Western Ghats in the southern Indian state of Kerala, Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve is one of the most captivating wildlife parks in the world.

Evening you can take an optional elephant ride at periyar wild life and rest of the day is at leisure.

DAY 4: THEKKADY – ALLEPPEY (HOUSEBOAT) (155 KM/ APPROX 4 HOURS)

Morning After breakfast, depart for Alleppey. Check-in to the Houseboat by 1200 hrs and rest of the day at leisure in the houseboat. Cruise through the famed backwaters of Alleppey.

Have lunch & dinner on board. Stay overnight in the houseboat.

Kerala Houseboats (Rice boats) or Kettuvallam are country boats that were used in the early days for the transport of goods from the isolated interior villages of Kerala Backwater area to the towns like Alleppey, Kollam, Cochin and Kottayam. With the advent of roads, bridges and ferry services, gradually these boats went off the scene. Now these boats are used as a major tourist attraction.

DAY 05: ALLEPPEY – COCHIN / ERNAKULAM:

After breakfast, check out from the Houseboat.

if time permits, you can do local sightseeing / take an optional Ferry tour to Fort Cochin & visit Chinese Fishing nets, Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace etc.(Own cost). Later drop to the airport/ railway station for your onward journey

Places to Visit in Cochin:

Bolgatty palace:- Built by the Dutch in 1744, this beautiful palace is today a hotel run by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.

Willingdon Island:- Named after lord Willingdon, a former British Viceroy of India. This is man-made island is surrounded by beautiful backwaters.

These huge cantilevered fishing nets are legacy of one of the first visitors to the Malabar coast . Erected here between 1350 & 1450 AD by traders from the court of Kublai Khan, these nets are built teakwood & bamboo poles, the best place to watch the nets being lowered into the sea & the catch being brought in is the Vasco da Gama Square

St Francis Church:- Built in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars, that is India‘s oldest European Church.

Santa Cruz Basilica:- Dating back in 1558, this church has beautiful murals on the ceiling
