Kasauli

Location: Himachal Pradesh, India
Route: Delhi - Karnal - Ambala -  Panchkula - Kalka - Dharampur - Kasauli
Nearest Railhead: Kalka (approx. 35 km), Dharampur (approx. 12km)
Nearest Airport: Chandigarh (approx. 65 km) and Shimla (approx. 73 km).
 
Few facts:
Kasauli (6360 ft) , situated at higher altitude than Shimla.
The desi deer 'Ghoral' and Jackals are still very common here in the Kasauli jungles.
At present there is no fuel station in Kasauli, nearest one lies 12 kilometres away, so one must come to Kasauli tank
    full of fuel.

Monkey Point
AthensMonkey Point is the highest point of Kasauli. There is a small temple atop the hill dedicated to Lord Hanuman that offers picturesque views of the plains of Chandigarh and silver lining of River Sutlej flowing through them. An interesting legend states that when Lord Hanuman was returning with 'Sanjeevani Booti' to cure a severely wounded Lakshman, the brother of Lord Rama, his foot touched this peak. Thus, the shape of the hill top is shaped like foot of the Monkey-God.

Lower and Upper Mall
Tourists never miss the two main roads of Kasauli known as Lower and Upper mall. The two roads of Kasauli are lined with beautiful pine, chestnut, oak and juniper trees. While the Lower Mall is known for its eating joints, the Upper Mall does not allow any sort of vehicles in the vicinity. This has enabled to keep it clean and beautiful, thus making a long walk extremely peaceful.

Christ's Church
An old church that was built during the British era is a popular tourist attraction of Kasauli. This beautiful monuments has ancient gothic construction, spires, etc. that is typical of an Anglican church. It is dedicated to St. Francis and St. Barnabas. The stained glass décor and lush green surroundings make it a picturesque tourist attraction.

Sanawar
AthensLocated six kilometers from the town of Kasauli, at an altitude of 1750 meters, Sanawar is another hill destination that is quite popular among travellers. The famous Lawrence School, which boasts many Bollywood actors amongst its alumni, is located here only. Sir Henry Lawrence founded this one and half-century-old institute, which attracts students from all across the country. Spread over 139 acres of land, this school celebrates its’ founders birthday every year on first week of October. The chapel inside the campus, built as per European architecture, is another attraction in Sanawar.

Dagshai
Located nineteen kilometers from Kasauli, Dagshai forms a major tourist attraction. The place has been popular since the time of the British colonists, for its natural beauty and calm surroundings. Dagshai ,full of Oak and chestnut trees, is a place worth seeing for natural beauty.

Dharampur
Dharampur is another excursion from Kasauli that attracts tourists for its quiet and calm location. Situated amidst the healthy air of the fragrant pines, it also houses a hospital for patients of tuberculosis. For those who are trying to get away from the maddening crowd of the cities, Dharampur is the place to be.
