Devbagh, is famed for its beauty and has been praised by many poets including India’s first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath wrote is first play “Prakritir Pratishoota” or 'Nature’s Revenge', a dramatic poem from this place at the age of 22. GURUPURA NISARGADHAMA ( PILIKULA )
In Tulu language ( popular in Mangalore area ), 'Pili' means tiger and 'kula' means pond. According to a legend, free roaming tigers frequented watering hole in the vicinity and hence the name Pilikula. Perched atop a hillock overlooking the quiet flowing Gurupura River, coconut groves and areca plantations, the Gurupura Nisargadhama Resort is an oasis of calm.
